Welcome to Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and Parish School in Oroville California, and our mission church Saint Anthony of Padua in Challenge California.  We have been serving the Greater Oroville area since 1857, becoming part of the Diocese of Sacramento in 1886. COFFEE HOUR: The Catholic Ladies Relief Society will be hosting the February 5th Coffee Hour from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in STS Fitzgerald Hall.

STS BOOK FAIR: St. Thomas the Apostle School is hosting a BOOK FAIR. The Book Fair, located on the stage in Fitzgerald Hall, begins on Sunday, January 29th and runs through Sunday, February 5th and will be open both Sundays after the 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. In addition, the Fair will be open Monday through Friday after school. There will be lots of wonderful books for all ages. This is a wonderful fundraiser for our school library.

ATTENTION LOCAL 2023 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS: The scholarship application for the Knights of Columbus Joseph C. Ghana Memorial Scholarship will be available starting February 1, 2023 and due on March 1, 2023. The Knights of Columbus will be awarding two (2) $1,000.00 scholarships this year.

Contact your local high school’s counseling office. When filling out the application you MUST CHECK THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BOX UNDER “GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS” your parent or grandparent is involved with and they must be in good standing with Council 2603. C.L.R.S. RUMMAGE SALE DONATIONS NEEDED: The CLRS is gratefully accepting donations. Drop off donations on Friday, February 3rd from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Hall. Please no computers, electronics or large appliances.

…. AND THERE’S LUNCH: On Saturday, February 4th, CLRS is serving lunch amidst the always fun and diverse collections of treasures! Also, knows as the Rummage Sale! Homemade chili, hot dogs, soda, chips will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come join us for any easy economical lunch special.

IN PREPARATION FOR ASH WEDNESDAY: On January 21st, a box was placed in the church vestibule for collection of last year’s blest palms. These palms will be burned to make the ashes used on Ash Wednesday. The Palm Burning Service will be held at St. Thomas School Quad on Tuesday, February 21st at 11:00 a.m. Parishioners are encouraged to attend.
