Confirmation Sponsor Requirements
The role of the sponsor is to journey with the candidate throughout his or her formation process and life. Sponsors should lead a life that is in harmony with their faith and the role to be undertaken.
Confirmation sponsors must be:
- Sixteen (16) years old or older
- May not be the parent or stepparent of the confirmation candidate.
- Should be chosen by the confirmation candidate, not by the parents.
- Must have been fully initiated into the Church
- A Catholic who has already received the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.
- An active, practicing Catholic, receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist regularly.
- Attend the required meetings.
