The St. Thomas the Apostle Prayer Chain is a group of individuals whose purpose is to assist anyone with their prayer intentions, letting them know that they are not alone when presenting their needs. The members pray for others in time of need, loss, illness, praise and thanksgiving.
PRAYER CHAIN is a way for people to gain God’s assistance through prayer by permitting the Intercessor to pray as Jesus prayed. It is interceding or praying on behalf of one another.
INTERCESSION is a prayer of petition for the interests and needs of others. Just as the Holy Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God so we also intercede. The commitment to pray for others is a sacred privilege and is an example of faith in action.
“In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because it intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will.” (Romans 8:26-27)
